Our Team

Mark Dean grew up in South Austin and graduated from Austin High where he met his wife, Kathryn. He studied biochemistry at the University of Notre Dame before getting his first experience in the dental field as an assistant back in Austin. He earned his DDS at the UT Health San Antonio School of Dentistry and completed a one year Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency in Memphis, Tennessee. Dr. Dean then worked in Memphis for the next 4 years before returning to Texas with his family.

Dr. Dean enjoys the variety of a general dentistry office, but most of all he enjoys getting to know his patients. His staff often needs to keep him moving. 

Dr. Dean is a member of the ADA, TDA, Heart of Texas Dental Society, and CMDA.

When he's not at work, he enjoys spending time with his family, reading, watching movies, working out, and playing board games.

Tanya grew up in Blanco and graduated from Blanco High School in 1997.  After high school she attended a Dental Assisting Study course at the Career Advancement Center in Austin, Texas. She pursued her first dental job in Sattler, Texas with Dr. Fred Wilson where she spent 16 years learning and perfecting her skills. In 2007 she obtained her Registered Dental Assistant license from the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners. She began working for Dr. Doug Pautz in 2014, and remained in office with the arrival of Dr. Mark Dean to continue her 26 year dental career.  

When Tanya is not working she loves spending time with her husband Mando, son Dustin and daughter in law, Vianey, all of their dogs and farm animals. They love to travel and fish with their time away, and most early mornings are spent running the quiet streets of Blanco at 5am.  

Joann grew up in San Antonio and moved to Blanco at the age of 7. She graduated from Blanco High School in 1994. She started her dental career in 2005 with Dr. Douglas Pautz as a receptionist and began training on the job to become a dental assistant. After several years working and training with the lead assistant, Karen she received her license as a Registered Texas Dental Assistant. She has been working with Dr. Pautz for the past 13 years and continues her assistant career with Dr. Mark Dean. 

Joann enjoys spending time watching her grandkids play a variety of sports and traveling for tournaments and games. She also loves to travel with her husband Ray.

Amanda grew up in San Marcos, Texas and graduated from Navarro High School in 2008. After high school she moved to Dallas and attended Wade College, where she earned an Associate Degree in Fashion Merchandising. Shortly after, she began her fashion career working as a Brand Manager for White House Black Market in Allen, Texas. She was recruited to the dental world in 2017 where she began working for Pacific Dental Services in Plano, Texas as a Benefits Coordinator. In 2020 she decided to move to Blanco where she continued her dental career with Dr. Douglas Pautz and now with Dr. Mark Dean as the front office manager. 

In her spare time she enjoys spending time outdoors on the family ranch. A few of her hobbies include 9 pin bowling at the Blanco Bowling Club, trying new restaurants and traveling! She also is a huge sports fan!! Her favorite teams include the Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Mavericks and the Aggies! 

Reyna graduated from Texas A&M University in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Community Health before receiving her Associate in Applied Science Degree in Dental Hygiene from Blinn College in 1999. Her dental career has allowed her to move from state to state with her husband, Brian, as he pursued his education and career. Reyna, Brian and their three children, Raylee, Craddock and Preslee, moved to Blanco in 2015 where she began working for Dr. Douglas Pautz. She is so grateful the Lord brought Dr. Dean and his family to Blanco when Dr. Pautz retired. She hopes to continue working with this staff and serving the Blanco community for many years to come. 

Reyna's family has a small Dorper sheep ranch here in Blanco. They love spending time together serving in their church, showing sheep and goats at livestock shows across the state and dancing together in the local dance halls. 

Shawn grew up in South Central Kansas. She attended college in Dodge City at Dodge City Community College. She also attended the University of Kansas and then went on to get her Dental Hygiene degree at Wichita State University and graduated in 1981. She has been a practicing Dental Hygienist for 43 years. 

She has a son who lives in Washington State and a daughter in Austin. She has been traveling to the Hill Country for over 20 years and after much encouragement from family she decided to move to Blanco. She began working for Dr. Douglas Pautz in 2023 and gladly continues to work with Dr. Dean. 

She loves spending time with her family, traveling, and watching Kansas Basketball!
